West Library The plans for the City of Irving's West Library have been drawn up and they are seeking community input on the plans. Follow the link, http://www.cityofirving.org/library/input.html, to find out more information about the library, community meetings, and how to give your input. A brief synopsis of the new Irving West Library was given at the meeting. It will be constructed on a 6.5 acre spot at the SW corner of Esters and Rochelle, behind the Kasbah Grill and Fire Station, backing up to the water tower. The building will be 25,000 sq ft (that's 3 times the size of the current NW library which it will be replacing) and will be a "green" building with geothermal HVAC, photovoltaic sculptures, and a water catch basin. October 10 is when they expect to put the plans out for bids, with a ground breaking slated for January 2010, and completion date of early 2011. The total cost of the project is $8 million with $6.6 million set aside for actual construction costs.
